“We hope you find peace and beauty at Seguinlandia, where art and nature are one.”

Seguinlandia is perched at the mouth of Harmon Harbor, along the rugged shoreline of the Sheepscot River, and resides in the ancestral homelands of the Wabanaki.

Indigenous peoples bestowed the original name of Maine’s second oldest lighthouse “Seguin Island” off the Southern coast of Georgetown. It is this island that inspired early real estate developers to brand the coastlines of Georgetown “Seguinland.”

By the early 20th century, the Maine coast had become a popular vacation destination for New Englanders. A band of American Modernist painters known as the “Maine Moderns” were captivated by Maine’s untamed beauty, and flocked to the coasts of Georgetown in the summer. Together, they inspired a new art movement that blended the antique with the modern; creating iconic pieces that celebrate life on the Maine coast.

Seguinlandia honors the artistic spirit carried by the early “Maine Modern” artists and celebrates the life and work of local artist George Baker II. We hope you find peace and beauty at Seguinlandia, where art and nature are one.
